I started DQB Strategies after 8 years doing marketing and communications for non-profits. As a non-profit employee managing a lean budget with smaller teams than for-profit businesses, I found myself neglecting my organization’s social media channels when things were busy. There’s no deadline for social media, and when you are in a services-oriented field, there’s not a direct ROI that can be measured from digital media efforts. I knew how important it was that my organization was active on social media, and I enjoyed creating campaigns and posts when things were slow and I had time, but those instances were few and far between. I found myself constantly saying “If I only had more time…” But that time rarely came. When my son turned one, I realized I wanted to have more flexibility to hang out, take him to swim lessons, and pick him up early from daycare. So I decided to do the thing for other people that they don’t have time to do: digital media. I love small businesses and know their struggles because my husband and I own two. It is this understanding and desire to support local and shop small that has led me to focus on helping small businesses succeed by expanding their online presence.
